Checking Your Water for Atrazine

The Environmental Protection Agency recommends that you ask your local water utility for its annual drinking water report if you are concerned about the levels of atrazine in your water. But, as we pointed out this weekend, these reports are not entirely reliable when it comes to the herbicide.

If you are concerned about the level of atrazine in your water, you can check our data to see if the EPA has been monitoring in your area during the past five years.

If your community was not included in the EPA’s atrazine monitoring program or if you drink from a private well, you could request to have your drinking water tested. Call your state certification officer and ask what labs in your state are certified to test for atrazine. The test should cost approximately $15.

If you have tried to get your water tested for atrazine and want to share your experience, drop us a line.
